Police have also released a new photo of a button that was on the woman's sweater in hopes that someone will recognize it, said New York State Trooper AJ Hicks.

The body was found partially submerged in the stream, accessible from Maloney Road in the town of Wappinger near the Lagrange town line, on Tuesday, said Hicks.

The woman is believed to be approximately 5-foot-3 and between the ages of 16 and 25 years old, according to state police.

Her weight prior to her death was believed to be approximately 89 pounds, Hicks said.

She was found wearing white jeans, a pink T-shirt, a black button up sweater, and black and purple Merrell sneakers.

The forensic examination and autopsy are still ongoing.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident or information that may lead to the identification of the victim they are asked to please contact Troop K Headquarters at (845) 677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.

The State Police were assisted on scene by the New Hackensack Fire Department and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.
